Who am
I?
"I wrote this song during 1998, when my sisters and I were in transit
at Singapore airport. We had to wait 6 hours for our connecting flight to
Jakarta and, as great as the airport in Singapore is, I found myself completely
bored with absolutely nothing to do. My sisters had fallen asleep in the waiting
lounge, but I wasn't so lucky. I started to looking back at all the things I had
been doing during the last few months and wasn't very satisfied with what I had
accomplished. I realised that I really didn't recognise myself because of all
the crap I had been doing. So I took out my notebook and started writing this
song."

Resolutions
"Resolutions is quite similar to Who Am I? in the way it talks about
not being happy with who you are or what you've been doing. I wrote the first
verse on the plane flying back to Indonesia (My songwriting skills are at its
highest level when I'm in an airport or plane!). Anyway, the song is more about
not growing or going anywhere, which was how I was feeling in by the end of
2001. I had just decided to drop out of my second course and I really felt lost.
So this is what I came up with. I finished the song in about 2 weeks, and
recorded it in January 2002."

Consume Me
"As a musician, there has to be at least one love song in your
repertoire. This song is about trying to write one and just getting nowhere with
it. But then you meet someone that you fall completely head over heels for, and
all these beautiful words just come streaming out of your mouth without you even
trying. So you grab a pen and paper and start writing, and out comes this love
song!"

Never Be
"This song was very difficult to write. Every time I hear it, I always
remember how awful I felt when I was writing it. Since I left high school,
I have felt pressured to be something that I'm not. My sisters are successful
business women.. and then there's ME... the songwriter - the underachiever. This
song is about telling people, whoever they may be, that you'll never be what you
want them to be, because you think you're great the way you are right now. Don't
let those people make you think any less of yourself. Who cares if you're not
successful? As long as you're doing what you love, what else matters?"

So Here
"While looking through an old online diary of mine, I found this great
poem that I had written. I remember how I felt when I wrote it, and changed it
into the first verse of the song. This song is about looking up to someone that
you really admire, and feeling completely inadequate around them. I feel that
way around a lot of my musical friends, because I feel that my skills as a
guitarist are rather sub-par."

So Afraid
"I am a Christian and very proud of what I believe in. If people want to
ask me questions about my faith, I have no problem answering. But as a
Christian, I am called to share the gospel with everyone that I meet. I wish I
could be one of those people who just didn't care what others thought of them -
that didn't care when they were laughed at for what they believe in. People who
stand on street corners and are heckled when sharing their faith. This song is a
prayer to God, telling Him how much I want to be one of those people."

Beautiful
"This song is about loving
yourself... the way that God loves you. We all feel ugly sometimes, and this
song is a reminder to me about God's unconditional love - that there is nothing
at all in this world you couldever do to make Him hate you or turn away from
you."

Pain
"Being in love with someone
who doesn't respect you is a very hard thing to have to deal with. This song
talks about being in an abusive relationship - whether it is physical or
emotional. It's about empowerment - about saying 'I'm not going to let you hurt
me anymore' and walking out the door."
